DESTINY A. BACCARI
[attr="class","dropfrumbodytxt"]PERSONALITY:
+ sweet, caring, compassionate, helpful
- nervous, trust issues, quiet, unhappy
HISTORY:
Destiny was born into the Baccari family in Santa Barbara as the last child. She had an older sister, Julia (Jennifer Blake), a twin, Lacey, and two loving parents. As she got older, her eldest sister fled from their home and left the girl with her parents and Lacey – she didn’t know Julia for a long amount of time.
Their mother, Amanda, was a banshee, but their powers came from their father, James, a powerful Darach. He spent every day and as much time as possible teaching them to control their magic before it became out of hand, and how to defend themselves with it.
Destiny was a quiet kid, but generally nice to everybody around her. Lacey overshadowed her, often bullying her for small things she did wrong. She attempted to build Destiny’s frustration and anger over any little thing; especially when their parents didn’t let them do something, or when kids at school were mean. Destiny’s first instinct was never to be violent, but whenever somebody did anything even mildly wrong, Lacey was screaming her head off, and attempting to get her sister to join in, too. Built up stress and frustration one day in class, while in grade four, when a bully (who usually left Destiny alone) grabbed her pink pencil crayon and snapped it in two, the tiny nine year old flipped. She jumped on the boy and attempted to make him eat the severed pieces of pencil crayons, using her inhuman abilities to keep him down. Lacey stood back and only smirked at her success.
A few months later, at breakfast, Lacey had finally achieved what she had been working on for a little too long. Destiny’s pent up anger against their parents exploded, and Lacey helped her destroy the two of them. They got their stories straight, and soon enough, the cops were after a crazy, murderous group of people that didn’t exist.
After that, she was placed into an orphanage and eventually split from Lacey, then put into a foster home where her “guardians” treated her like a slave. She was forced to do all the cooking, cleaning and caring for their other children and her back-talk got her nowhere. Always snapping off at the mouth, and no one appreciated or tolerated the ten year old’s behavior.
One night she devised a plan to get out of there (with the help of Daniel, their eldest son, whom was her best friend) and thought of every single possibility. Anything that could go wrong was prepared for, and Destiny made it out. Happy to finally have an escape, she never turned back, sleeping wherever she could find a place – whether it be at school or in a tunnel, there was always somewhere to go; always somewhere to hide.
An alumni from her school (who always seem to come back even though he was unwanted), Tanner, continued to try to get her attention, though she was too awkward to be able to keep up a conversation. He did it by himself, and continued to try to impress her. She barely gave him any thought, and that was when he started backing her into corners in the hall and, finally, trying to drive her home after school. Though she was still technically living with Daniel’s parents, and they didn’t search for her to keep the money for her flowing in, she told him (while in a frustrated rut) that he’d be driving her to a bridge near the school.
He immediately tried to take her under his wing, and getting his friends to contrive scenarios that forced her to trust him more, such as ‘saving’ her from people that were going to ‘hurt her’. He gave her a room in a hotel he nearly owned, and, eventually, the romantic part came along.
Tanner had always treated her perfectly (to her knowledge), and tried his best to move slowly from stage to stage in their ‘relationship’. But when he wanted to have sex, they did, and that was when things turned around. Though, Destiny never tried to leave despite the abuse, simply because he gave her a roof over her head, and any food she could possibly want. He got her into many bad habits, but Destiny began to only see the quiet moments when he would sit with her and talk about his day, asking about hers, and when he would just be silly with her. She was blinded by the time he danced with her to a slow pop punk song in her room, the nights they would spend cuddling, and when he forced her to throw up after suicide attempts.
Destiny, being a supernatural creature, could sense the immense dark energy radiating from the Nemeton a few towns over and was constantly feeling uncomfortable and sick. Tanner didn't know what was wrong with her, and he didn't believe in doctors, so he never took her. He held her as she began to randomly scream in the day - after realizing hitting her like an off-button wasn't going to work. A few weeks later, a pack of Werewolves realized the immense power coming from the tree stump, and decided to flee, but wanted to turn as many people as possible. Destiny was captured by them, though held off being turned.
Once they were at the source, a town called Beacon Hills, she attempted to fight off the pack. They eventually gave up on her, as neither were going to win, and they decided they didn’t want somebody with her attitude in their pack. So they abandoned Destiny, but not without nearly killing her first. She ended up being taken to the hospital when found by a civilian, and having a very long talk with her nurse, Melissa McCall.
The sweet woman eventually decided that she’d let Destiny stay in her home, which was fine with the girl. She was happy to start again.
