A GUIDE TO RUNNING WITH MONSTERS

Perhaps the most mysterious and enigmatic member of the supernatural world, the banshee has eluded most means of documenting of traits. Able to take on the form of an old, somewhat haggard woman, or a young, beautiful and alluring maiden (whether or not by choice), the banshee is one of the oldest species to date. A noted power, is their piercing scream, capable of shattering the most tempered glass, or mutilating someone, if trained and experienced. Their most famous, is predicting death, usually by the voices of the dead or other banshees, in their head. While happening upon dead bodies is common, it is slightly rarer that the average banshee predicts a death before its time. Banshees seem to be immune to most supernatural afflictions such as mountain ash and kanima venom.

A type of demon, a berserker is a vessel that inhibits the spirit of a bear by wearing its bones on its body. By doing so, they project the bear's spirit. It then channels the animal's strength and instincts, and become the animal itself. They emit an aura of death and do not remain human for long after the conversion to a berserker because they are not affected by the moon. They ornate their bodies in bear belts and often wear the bear's skull on their head. When killed, they turn to dust due to their loss of humanity. Their abilities include, but are not limited to, strength that surpasses that of an average werewolf. They can be killed by ripping apart their skull mask or point-blank range explosions. Also, werejaguars have a special bond with berserkers. Due to their bond, werejaguars can sense berserkers and even control them.

Chimeras are genetically-modified experiments with a hybrid of supernatural creatures. There is no definite physiology as each experiment exhibits different results. Thus far, each chimera retains a dominant human appearance with each displaying different exotic species. Most chimeras also have werewolf traits in them. Because they are genetically-modified creatures, the usual supernatural restrictions do not apply to them. They are not considered technically supernatural and substances like mountain ash have no effect on them. Currently known, each chimera displays different sets of abilities but become disposable to the Dread Doctors if they bleed a silver substance, pronouncing them failures.

A druid acts as an adviser or emissary to werewolf packs. In ancient lore, the druids are the ones that taught Lycaon to shift back and forth from human to wolf. They once also had shapeshifting abilities due to the same curse bestowed upon Lycaon. A nemeton acts as a druid's sacred space and its power comes from sacrifices. It can be used to save a life or to perform rituals. A dark druid is known as a Darach, which is someone who ventured down the wrong path.

Known as guardians of the supernatural, they are enigmatic creatures. They are a rare specimen and are not only the protectors of the supernatural, but also considered harbingers of death. They are attracted to large sources of supernatural power in order to protect its secrecy. They possess the ability to generate fire and his impervious to it. Even under their human guise, their true nature protects them from the harm of fire and dangerous heat. Not only can they generate it, but it is part of their physiology. Hellhounds are also immune to kanima venom, electricity, can burn through Mountain Ash, has immense strength, and like a banshee, they can sense death. They are also capable of stopping a banshee scream by absorbing part of the shock wave.

A creature of vengeance, a kanima is a type of shape-shifter in the supernatural world. It is a mutation of the werewolf gene, created when the werewolf bite is rejected due to inner turmoil. Once the inner turmoil is resolved a kanima can finally transform into a werewolf. Kanimas are similar to werewolves, a full moon being its greatest source of power and instead of seeking a pack they seek a master. They can also grow stronger and evolve through stages, such as a power transition from a beta to alpha. Kanimas can grow wings after its 'beta' stage. They are commonly known to be covered in scales with a tale and can climb walls in comparison to reptilian creatures. Their claws secrete venom that paralyzes its victims for hours and has enhanced healing, senses, speed, agility, and strength. Their weaknesses include mountain ash, their master, its own venom, and mirrors, often mesmerized by their own appearance.

A fox-like creature, the kitsune is often portrayed as a trickster in ancient folklore. However, there are several types of kitsunes, each wielding different abilities. Overall, all kitsunes have supernatural healing, speed, and aging. A common trait among several kitsunes is the ability to produce foxfire, which is produced when a kitsune rubs its tails together. Tails are accomplished after a kitsune becomes more powerful - the older the tail, the more power it wields. Kitsunes are also said to shapeshift and their power tends to increase with age. They can either use their abilities for good or malevolent reasons, the nogitsune being the most notorious type of kitsunes. Their weaknesses are mountain ash and a telluric current (thunder kitsunes), which is when a kitsune uncontrollably generates electricity.

Psychics are hard to distinguish without someone outright declaring themselves. Humans themselves are capable of acquiring certain traits such as hypnosis and premonition through means of palm reading etc, but even if highly trained, the average human will not have extraordinary abilities, other than rare cases of humans with slightly enhanced traits, even obtaining a minor level of telepathic capabilities. Human psychics make up the majority of their kind. There are some, however, about one in every five thousand people, who are natural psychics. Natural psychics are born with their power, it grows with them until about the age of sixteen, where their power is at its fullest. They express expansive telepathic abilities, from reading minds, to controlling and even destroying them, as well as the ability to predict the future, which is subject to change. Natural psychics are rare, often dying from losing control of their power, but they can learn control through meditative practices (mantras, yoga etc.) or ingesting a tea of mint and elderberry. Wearing the flower of the Forest Calanthe, native to Nepal, gives protection from their influence.

Oni can be described as morally neutral. They are not controlled by forces of good or evil, but only bid their summoner's orders. They are described as demon warriors and are persistent in their given tasks. They pursue their given tasks until completion or are destroyed. It is advised that they are not to be fought but eluded until they complete their given task. Apparently no man-made weapon can stop them, but it is proven that silver can destroy them. Oni are also weak to the sun and can only work at sundown. They can be summoned by the breaking of a kitsune's tail. The stronger the tail, the stronger the Oni. They can silence a banshee's scream, phase through solid matter, are skilled in martial arts combat, but can be temporarily detained by a mountain ash barrier.

Skinwalkers are part of Native American lore. They can shift into any animal, but are commonly associated with a coyote, wolf, eagle, fox, crow, or owl. Skinwalkers are part of the Navajo and have a bad stigma to their name due to their necessary rituals deemed gory or barbaric to others. Skinwalkers are skilled warriors and are known to live in deserts. They have also been known to help others struggling with their supernatural instincts.

A species unique to this site, an upir is the creature closest to the mythical 'vampires.' However, they are not weak to the sun. Instead, their weaknesses include iron and a rare plant. They drink human blood, but become crazed when exposed to werewolf blood, which upirs crave more than anything, making werewolves and upirs natural enemies. When they feed, their eyes transform from their apparent-human color to pitch black, resembling a demon's eyes and have long, pointed teeth. But when they are feral on werewolf blood, they are uncontrollable and extremely dangerous. Their features change to copper red eyes, more jagged, sharp teeth, and a transformation to a beast, resembling almost a wolf. They had the ability of mind control, which the original upir has chosen to call 'Influence.' They can control humans and various supernatural creatures, but not wolves. As they grow older, they grow stronger.

Part of Native American lore, wendigos are vicious supernatural creatures due to their cannibalistic tendencies. These creatures have an uncontrollable desire for human flesh, thus leading to them to kill for food. Sly creatures, they retain a dominant human appearance except for sharp, fanged teeth that they easily hide. When exposed to their true form, their eyes shimmer with a white glow. They are strong enough to not only fight a Werewolf Alpha, but win the fight. There is no specific weaknesses known to the wendigo and have thus far been vulnerable only to the element of surprise.

A werecoyote is a canine shape-shifter and belongs to the same class as werewolves. They can transform to an actual coyote or retain humanoid forms with coyote features. They are very similar to werewolves, having their same basic abilities of heightened senses, enhanced strength, speed, healing, and agility. Their weaknesses are most notably mountain ash - which can even kill a werecoyote - a full moon if they have no control over their coyote form, an alpha roar, and female coyotes can lose their power to their children after giving birth. However, they can gain it back by killing their child on a full moon. They also form in packs and when a werecoyote kills an innocent person, their eyes shift to blue, as a werewolf would.

A werejaguar, or Nagual, was once worshiped by the Aztecs and possess powerful magic. They can shift into a jaguar-like creature and have many similar abilities as a werewolf. They are also strong at a full moon and have to learn to control themselves just as a werewolf does. Werejaguars have the power to regress someone to young age due to Aztec rituals and can make berserkers, due to their bond. This also means that a berserker is loyal to werejaguars. Uniquely, they are weak to yellow wolfsbane, which has the potential to kill them.

A type of shape-shifter, Werewolves retain a human form, able to shift into various hybrid/humanoid forms, up to fully shifting into an actual wolf. Their basic abilities include heightened senses, accelerated healing, There are three observed kinds: the Alpha, the most powerful and fearsome leader of a given pack of werewolves, with glowing red eyes and unbridled strength, whose bite can either make a human into a wolf, or kill then. It is a status of being, attainable by a Beta or Omega whom successfully kills an Alpha, or evolve into one through sheer strength of character or will power (which is incredibly rare). On that note, Beta werewolves are the pack subordinates of an Alpha. The second strongest type, they follow the decisions and orders given by the Alpha. The Omega has the same basic abilities as a Beta, but are seen as weaker as they are without a pack, whether or not by choice. Their weaknesses include, wolfsbane, mountain ash and the lunar eclipse, during which werewolves lose all their powers.
