Kira Yukimura
[attr="class","dropfrumbodytxt"]
At first impression, Kira comes off as slightly awkward, tending to ramble on times when nervous. But she’s a girl who means well and is actually quite amiable in nature. Possessing a thoughtful, but driven mindset, Kira maintains a curiosity about everything, working to understand her situation and assess her objectives. Sometimes she tends to act rather on her own impulses, impatient at times and leaping into action quickly. Sometimes she has a hard time expressing her feelings and putting them into the right words, which often causes her to look awkward at times, but she genuinely cares deeply for those who are close to her heart. Overall, she gives off the impression of a demure, gentle-hearted, and a sweet young girl who seems nothing more than just an ordinary girl.
But don’t take her gentle nature for granted. She’s not some flower that shrinks in the face of adversity. No, she will cut through her fears like the blade that she will soon inherit, and she’s not one to back down from a fight so willingly. You want a fight? She’ll bring it right to you. Even if fear pricks at her, Kira is willing to accept what’s her destiny, what her purpose is, and she’ll do anything to protect what’s most dearly cherished in her eyes. Most of all, she will do anything to protect her loyalties and tries to be as tactful as possible, acting as a mediator if she needs to.
It just happened. Her parents hadn’t really expected to have a child at such a late point in their lives, but they did and they wholly welcomed her with open arms. She was born on May 22nd, in the heart of New York, to a Korean father and a Japanese mother-one of the last, surviving members of the Yukimura line. Upon the birth of a new daughter, Noshiko knew that the fate of the kitsune would eventually pass down to her daughter, through the family blood that ran in Kira’s veins. But Noshiko didn’t want to burden her daughter with such a heavy destiny, so thus, Kira was raised with no knowledge of the supernatural world, instead living as a normal girl. Meanwhile both of her parents prayed that her powers wouldn’t manifest, and decided that, later, if her powers did start to show, they would eventually reveal the truth to her later.
So, Kira had a normal, ordinary childhood like any other. The fact that she was the daughter of mixed heritage didn’t bother her in the least; it allowed her to grasp the Japanese culture and language just as easily as she did with her father’s Korean side of the family. Although she found herself more drawn to the fantastical and mystical tales that her mother often told her before going to sleep. Kitsunes. Nogitsunes. Werewolves. They were just myths, stories that molded to the girl’s imagination. She dreamed often of running with the foxes, who seemed to call to her in her dreams. They protected her. She felt powerful with the fire that danced along her fingers.
But those were just mere dreams of a wildly imaginative girl. In real life, Kira was just an ordinary girl, who kept rambling over herself and awkwardly tripping over things. She wasn’t some strong, powerful warrior. But a part of her wished that she was like one of those warriors that her mom often told her about. Little did she know that she’d later unlock the fire within her. Waiting to be unleashed.
Moving in the middle of the school year hadn’t exactly been easy for Kira-not when she had to leave behind all the friends and the friendships that she had built up over the years. “But why?” She had insisted, confused as to why her parents suddenly had to move to a completely different town, a different state. “You’ll like it there, honey. It’s sunny all year round, you’ll like the weather over there. And besides, your father got a good job there.” That was all they had said to her, but Kira felt somewhat indignant. Felt like she was being kept in the dark. She didn’t like it. But being the dutiful daughter, she reluctantly agreed to the move, just crossing her fingers and hoping that she’d at least make some friends.
Being the new kid at school petrified her at first. New classes. New teachers. New students. She wasn’t just the new one at school, everyone else was also new to her. It was daunting, the idea of having to start over from scratch. But she’s a Yukimura. She steeled herself to put herself out there, to walk through those hallways with confidence. But of course, being the daughter of the new history teacher didn’t exactly help with her reputation.
Not when he went and gave an entirely embarrassing introduction to the class about how Kira had never made any friends during her first three weeks of school at Beacon Hills High. Nothing else in her life had ever made her feel like wanting to bury herself in a hole and just hide there forever. But despite her rather awkward introduction to the school, Kira still was able to get to know Scott and his rather tight circle of friends. It was a little rocky at first, but she was able to win over their trust, soon becoming a part of their circle.
However, that was merely only the beginning of her destiny, as trouble soon loomed on the horizon. Kira’s powers began to manifest, when she found out in quite the most shocking way. Literally shocking. She discovered that she could withstand dozens of megawatts of electricity, due to her nature as a thunder kitsune, which she later found out from her mother and research.
She's only begun to delve into her destiny as a kitsune, but she still has so much to learn about her heritage, and she's beginning to wonder what other secrets her parents have been holding back from her.
